Microsoft update 4.5.1 or 4.5.2 stops imageman

Greg Morris Jan 19, 2015 02:23PM EST

Uninstalling 4.5.1 or .2 fixes the issue. Is there a work around or solution to this issue. The desktops in question are Windows 7.

Thanks

DTI.ImageMan.Twain.dll is version 2.71.0.0
File description says ImageMan.net Twain Controls 2.00
The error is "Your .net framework security is not set".
We have made the correct settings with caspol and as soon
as we remove .net 4.5.1 it starts working again.

cd %windir%\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\
caspol -machine -chggroup LocalIntranet_Zone FullTrust
caspol.exe -polchgprompt off -addgroup 1 -site exp-app-dev FullTrust

Hello,

Just to clarify, is this a winforms application or are you running the controls in Internet Explorer ? If IE what version of IE are you using ?

Thanks,
John

Hello,
We are still digging into this. Microsoft has made some type of change in .Net which no longer allows the required permissions for the control. which requires Full Trust since it calls the unmanaged TWAIN dll.

As soon as we have some more info we'll let you know.

Thanks,
John

HI, We have v2.0.50727 locally which we run our caspol full trust against for our .net hosted apps via IE. Like you since upgrading to 4.5.2 all the apps stop working. Even though we are still running the full trust against 2.0 4.5.2 still stops it working. Does it overwrite ? Removing 4.5.2 fixes it. Any ideas as to why 4.5.2 over writes v2.0 where 3.5 and 4.0 didn't ?

Hello,

Its appears MS has made some nasty change to 4.5.2 which we are still trying to figure out. We'll be posting here as soon as we have more info.

Thanks,
John

Hello,
According to Microsoft you need to set a registry key to enable .Net controls under IE with the .Net framework 4.5x upgrades. Here's the info:

Web Applications
Feature
Change
Impact
Managed browser hosting controls from the .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0
Hosting these controls is blocked in Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer will fail to launch an application that uses managed browser hosting controls. The previous behavior can be restored by setting the EnableIEHosting value of the registry subkey HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/.NETFramework to 1 for x86 systems and for 32-bit processes on x64 systems, and by setting the EnableIEHosting value of the registry subkey HKLM/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Microsoft/.NETFramework to 1 for 64-bit processes on x64 systems.

Please make this change and let me know if it resolves the issue for you.

Thanks,
Sean

Sean,

We just found your reply, it works on our test machines(x64) and have sent it
to a client to test.

Thanks for all of your efforts.

Hi Greg,

Excellent, let us know if the client has any issues. Sadly due to the recent changes by MS you will need to do this for all clients in the future.

We're updating our docs to reflect this fact.

Thanks for your interest in our products and please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Sean
