Faxman OCX will not register

Rick Dorsey May 15, 2015 11:47AM EDT

I am having trouble registering faxocx4.ocx on a windows 7 64bit box.

We only have 2 systems with the 64 bit version of windows 7 and they both will not register this file. XP and windows 7 32bit boxes work just fine.

I have tried elevated command prompt with regsvr32 as well as copying the ocx and all of the files in the redist folder to C:\windows\Syswow64. I tried installing faxman with run as administrator. I also tried installing all C++ redistributables and that didnt help either. Nothing is working.

I get this when installing faxman: "Unable to register the dll/ocx regsvr32 failed with exit code 0x3"

And this when trying regsvr32: "The module faxocx4.ocx failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files"

I initially had trouble registering IMACTX80.ocx but fixed that by copying all of the files from the redist folder, are there dlls\files I am missing for faxocx4.ocx?

Thanks
Rick

Hi,
That error (0x03) is ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND
3 (0x3)
The system cannot find the path specified.

SO make sure you are passing the full and complete path to the ocx file in the commandline to regsvr32.

If you still have an issue please let me know which version of the OCX you have so I can get you the proper dependency list.

I get that error when running the installer, no option to pass path there. The installer I am using is FM4702.exe

so the version of ocx is 4.7.0.2

Hi,

Looks like those machines are missing the MS C runtime 2008 files, you can download it from MS at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29 and then run on the PCs in question.

Note the installer is the x86 version eventhough you are installing on a x64 machine, thats correct since the OCX is x86 code.
