Detect line in use by another modem/software?

Lee Gray Nov 30, 2011 11:16AM EST

We have a customer who is using our software which includes FaxMan, and a separate system with its own modem and software that shares the same line as FaxMan. The two systems conflict and stop each others' faxes when each tries to use the line at the same time. Is there something I can do to detect if the line is in use by the other system before i attempt to send a fax?

(Using FaxMan 4.6.1)

Hi,

Faxman is not really designed to share a port with another application. When Faxman is in send only mode for a port it will open the port as needed and if it cant it will fail the fax. If its in receive mode then it will have the port open all the time waiting for the incoming calls.

We would not really recommend sharing the same port.

Thanks for your interest in our products and please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Sean
